Chen Tingzhuo's Ci Poetry Selection Thought from the Perspective of Anthology

The highlight of Chen Tingzhuo,commentator of ci poetry in the late Qing Dynasty,is Ci Poetry Compendia and Selected Ci Poetry.Mr.Chen thought favorably of ci Poetry Compendia about its merit in collecting literature and about its demerit in eliminating the badly written poems.He also thought favorably of Selected ci Poetry about origins of words and about its demerit in choice of poems.In addition,Mr.Chen made some comments on the remarkable ci poetry in various dynasties.Although there are problems concerning the indefinite division of category of ci poetry selection,his commentaries are mostly appropriate,having very much the function of showing people how to learn ci poetry.
