Abstract

Many critics have made various comments on Han Yu's poems. However, there have been very few studies on them from the angle of their lyricism. This paper attempts to probe into the lyricism of Han Yu's poems from four aspects in order to propose that the lyricism of Han Yu's poems originated from his own life experience, from his pursuit of the theory of poetry composing, and from his inheritance of the literary tradition—“feelings give birth to poems and poems express feelings”—of the successive dynasties.
