Abstract
Li Yi's unique experience of five enlistments in thearmy had exerted a great influence on his creation of frontier fortress poems. Compared with those in the peaceful and prosperous Tang Dynasty, his frontier fortress poem has a new development in its theme, a new pursuit in artistic device, a new change in its forms and styles. He followed and developed and had played an important role in the Mid-Tang poetry, especially in the development of the Mid-Tang frontier fortress poems.
