Abstract
PCR-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(PCR-DGGE) has the advantages of high reliability,good repetition,and easy operation.Currently,it has been widely used in the study of diversity and dynamics of microbial communities.This paper introduces the principle and procedure of PCR-DGGE,discusses the optimization and statistical analysis of PCR-DGGE profile,reviews its application in the study of environmental microbial ecology,and analyzes its limitations and potential application.
