Abstract
Objective To evaluate the outcome of malaria control in YiZhou city from 1950 to 2010. Methods Data of malaria control from all the township hospitals from 1950 to 2010 were collected.Excel software was used for calculation and analysis. Results The incidence was 132.40 / 10,000 in the 1950s with mixed infection of Plasmodium falciparum,Plasmodium vivax and Plasmodium malariae, death was also reported in that period. In the late 1960's Plasmodium malariae case was not found, the incidence was 30.11 /10,000.It was reduced to 1.455 / 10,000 in the 1970s and no Plasmodium falciparum case was found. It was reduced to 1.51/10,000 in the 1980s,and malaria cases occurred only in the floating population, accounted for 13.43% in the total cases. It was 0.44 / 10,000 in the 1990s,and was 36.22% in the floating population. No endogenous malaria patient was found after 1999.It was 0.04 / 10,000 during 2000-2010,and all the cases were in the floating population. Conclusion Malaria was well under control in the city after the implementation of long-term effective control measures. However, malaria control in the floating population should be greatly enhanced.
