HIV /AIDS related knowledge attitude and behavior among college students in Guangxi

Objective To investigate current status of HIV/AIDS related knowledge,attitude and behavior among college students after HIV / AIDS intervention project,and to probe into proper AIDS prevention health education mode for college students.Methods Questionnaire survey on HIV /AIDS was conducted among 966 college students from 10 colleges in Nanning who were selected by stratified sampling.Results The overall correct answer rate of HIV / AIDS-related knowledge was 78.67%.The awareness rate of HIV / AIDS transmission route were high,however,the awareness of HIV / AIDS non-transmission path was quite 1ow.About 46.58% of the students expressed sympathy for AIDS patients,and 43.58% of the students showed willing to help.The proportion of approval with premarital sex,multiple sexual partners,out-marrige affair,commercial sexual behaviors,condom use during intercourse were 28.6%,8.5%,8.5%,5.7%,9.3% and 86.0%,respectively.Main sources of HIV / AIDS knowledge were television,radio,magazines and the Internet.More than half of the students consider school education on HIV / AIDS is not enough.Conclusions HIV /AIDS health education at universities is not enough to meet the needs of the college students.It is important to provide college students with comprehensive education and intervention on HIV / AIDS.
