Abstract
This paper attempts to analyze the characters in the novel employing Freudian theory of human psyche and holds the three male characters of the novel correspond with the three layers of human psyche-id,ego,and superego.Also,the woman on the roof symbolizes the outer environment.From the microcosmic perspective,the novel elaborates the Freudian theory.
