There are two ethnic groups in the village of Liuxing, the Hans and the Yaos. There are 29 initials in the Liuxing dialect, zero initials included, 32 finals and 5 tones. The phonetic system of the Liuxing dialect not only retains some ancient pronunciations but also has adopted some modern changes.
