Mentioning the goals for socialist construction and development in China, both Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping put forward the target to create a modernized powerful country. Generally, the principal ideas in their thought are corresponding to each other. That apart, in terms of goals for development, what they had in mind is actually related to each other in the sense of continuation and development. Mao's explanation has provided a foundation for Deng's development in thinking. In return, Deng developed and expanded Mao's idea based on Mao's philosophy.
