The value of Thinprep liquid based cytology for the screening of cervical lesions

Objective:To evaluate the value of Thinprep liquid based cytology in screening cervical lesions.Methods:1 800 cases were detected by ThinPrep cytology according to TBS diagnosis system,the positive 158 cases were proceed the examination of cervical biopsyunder by colposcope.The ThinPrep cytology results were analysed,compared with the pathological diagnosis as the golden standard.Results:Among 158 cases diagnosed as SCC,HSIL,LSIL,the coincidences of ThinPrep cytology and pathological diagnosis were 100.00%,93.33%,60.00% and 52.94%.Among 34 cases diagnosed as AGCUS by ThinPrep cytology,3 cases were diagnosed as adenocarcinoma of endometrium.Conclusion:ThinPrep cytology contribute to the detection of cervical cancer,intraepithelial neoplasia;cases diagnosed as AGC should undergo fractional curettage of endometrium to detect precancerous lesion and endometrial cancer.
