Abstract
4-nonanoyloxybenzoic acid was synthesized using 4-hydroxy benzoic acid and nonanoic anhydride as materials, and sodium bisulfate supported by silica as catalyst. The influences of some factors on the synthesis process were studied. The optimal reaction conditions were as follows: the molar ratio of 4-hydroxy benzoic acid and nonanoic anhydride was 1∶1.3,the mass ratio of catalyst to reactants was 5%,reaction temperature was 93 ℃,reaction time was 3.0 h.The yield of the target product reached 87.5% under the optimum conditions. The structure of 4-nonanoyloxybenzoic acid was characterized by IR spectrum. The catalyst could be recycled and used for many times.
