Antibiotics Use During Perioperative Period in Neurosurgery:Case-control Study

OBJECTIVE To investigate the antibiotic use during perioperative period in neurosurgery ward after the implementation of Antibiotic Drug Use Guideline.METHODS By using self-designed questionnaires 81 outpatient cases in 2005 and 83 cases in 2006 during perioperative period in neurosurgery were surveyed.RESULTS The preventive use rate of antibiotic drug in neurosurgery in 2005 and 2006 were respectively 87.7% and 91.6%(P0.05);the preoperative use rate was 8.6% and 65.1%(P0.05);the mean time of using antibiotic drug was 12.44 days and 5.87 days(P0.05);and the check rate of resistance of drugs was 9.9% and 7.2%(P0.05);both groups used drug mainly in vein and in single mode.CONCLUSIONS After the implementation of the Guideline the rational use of antibiotics is improved but there are some problems needed to manage further.
