Abstract

Objective To study the effect of Cordyceps sinensis compound (Lungfit) on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury in isolated rat heart. Methods Langendorff perfusion technique of rat heart was used to detect the myocardial function parameter at every 5 min intervals before ischemia and after reperfusion. Lungfit was administered by intragastric gavage at two different doses (160, 325 mg/kg.d -1 ) for 10 days consecutively. Results No statistical difference was observed between the Lungfit group and the control group before ischemia ( P 0 05). However, in the reperfusion period after 30 min global ischemia, the recovery of heart rate, coronary flow and systole/diastole function was markedly superior to that of control group. Conclusion Lungfit could produce a protective effect on myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury.
