Abstract

Objective To evaluate the clinical results of type Ⅵ tibial plateau fractures treated with lateral locking compression plate(Locking Compression Plate,LCP) or medialT-shaped plate alone. Methods From May 2010 to Jun.2012,29 patients with tibial plateau bicondylar fractures(Schatzker type:type Ⅵ) were admitted into our hospital.Twenty-one patients were treated with lateral locking compression plate, and 8 patients were treated by medialT-shaped plate. The fixation efficacy was evaluated by observing their postoperative functional recovery. Results All patients were followed up for 5 to 20 months. All cases achieved fracture healing, with an average healing time of 13.5 weeks. All fractures showed good contraposition, smooth articular surface, normal knee function and no reduction loss. The knee function was evaluated by HSS scores, indicating 14 cases of excellent,12 cases of good and 3 cases of fair. The excellent and good rate was 89.66%.Conclusion The majority of patients with type Ⅵ tibial plateau fractures can achieve satisfactory results with lateral locking compression plate or medial T-shaped plate alone.
