Abstract

A survey of bird species in Hengshui Lake National Wetland Reserve found birds 299 species,142 genera,48 families(including 4 subfamilies),and 17 orders,of which were 31 species of resident birds,81 species of summer migratory birds,37 species of winter migratory birds and 150 species of travelling birds. There were 7 species of Grade I national key protected birds,45 speces of Grade Ⅱ national key protected birds,77 species of provincial key protected birds,154 species of Sino-Japan concerted protected resident birds, occupying 67.84% of the total concerted protected birds, and 42 species of Sino-Australia concerted protected resident birds, taking up 51.9% of the total concerted protected birds. As per fauna distribution, they belonged to 207 species of palearctic realm,25 species of oriental realm, and 67 species of wide spread.By niches, they were divided into 137 species of barren land, being 45.8% of the total surveyed,133 species of water area, taking up 44.5% of the total and 168 species of plantations, accounting for 56.19% of the total. The survey found that the number of the birds was decreasing and some protective measures are put forward.
