Isolation and Identification of Chemical Constituents from the Whole Herb of Scutellaria Barbata

Abstract

Objective:To investigate the chemical constituents of the whole herb of Scutellaria barbata D.Don.Methods:The compounds were isolated by silica gel column chromatography and purified by Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography and recrystallization.The structures were elucidated on the basis of physicochemical properties and spectroscopic analyses.Results:Nine compounds were separated and identified as:β-sitosterol(1),5-hydroxy-7,4'-dimethoxyflavone(2),5-hydroxy-7,8,4'-trimethoxyflavone(3),5-hydroxy-6,7,4'-trimethoxyflavone,salvigenin(4),5,7-dihydroxy-8-methoxyflavone(wogonin,5),2-hydroxy-3-methylanthraquinone(6),(E)-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)acrylic acid ethyl ester(7);ethyl-4-hydroxybenzoate(8),p-hydroxybenzaldehyde(9).Conclusion:compounds 2,3,6,7 were isolated from the genus Scutellaria for the first time,and compound 4 was obtained from S.barbata.
