Abstract

Objective To study the correllation between hepatocyte growth factor(HGF) and the generation, development and metastasis of gastric cancer. Methods Serum HGF levels were determined in 40 patients with gastric cancer(36 patients with excisiones of gastric cancer),15 recurrent patients with postoperative gastric cancers and 20 normal controls by ELISA method. Results Serum HGF level was higher in recurrent gastric cancer group than that in group of new case(P0.01).There was also significantly higher in group of gastric cancer than that in group of normal controls and postoperative gastric cancer(P0.01).Significantly higher level of serum HGF was observed in patients with metastatic gastric cancer than that in non-metastatic patients(P0.01).Conclusion There is close relationship between serum HGF level and the generation, development and metastasis of gastric cancer.
