Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of decompressive craniotomy in the treatment of severe craniocerebral trauma. Methods Seventy-five patients with severe craniocerebral trauma who were treated in our hospital from January 2010 to January 2013 were analyzed retrospectively and divided into the treatment group and the control group according to the bone window size. The treatment effect and complications of the 2 groups were compared. Results The treatment group had higher GCS score than the control group, with significant differences between the two groups(P 0.05). The incidences of complications of the two groups were 27.50% and 65.71% respectively,with significant difference(P 0.05). Conclusion In the treatment of severe craniocerebral trauma especially some particularly severe craniocerebral injury, decompressive craniotomy can significantly improve the cure rate and reduce the probability of secondary intracranial hypertension induced re-surgery.
