Abstract

Objective:To investigate the small for gestational age (SGA) birth and three years of catch-up growth, and the relationship between insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) and growth hormone (GH).Method:Choose met the inclusion criteria of the SGA 50 cases as the object of study, appropriate for gestational age (AGA) 45 cases as control group to analyze two sets of children's physical growth of the relevant information and serum levels of IGF-1 and GH.Result:The control group and SGA group of height standard deviation score and weight standard deviation scores significantly (P 0.01).SGA group and AGA groups serum levels of IGF-1 and GH was no significant difference.3,the growth of normal SGA and growth of backward SGA,serum levels of IGF-1 and GH was no significant difference. Conclusion:Years after birth,SGA children's growth lagged behind the normal children the same age,but the serum levels of IGF-1 and GH was no significant difference, suggesting that SGA during the first three years of existence from birth IGF-1 resistance,to provide reference data for the SGA treatment.
