The Impact of Financial Crisis on College Student Loans in China and Its Countermeasures

Financial crisis had a significant impact on college student loans in China.On the one hand,the reducing of household income and employment difficulty make the number of students who need loans increase.On the other hand,the banks have no enthusiasm on lending,and they may be stricter on student loans.To this end,colleges and the government should take active measures to ease students' education crisis.Colleges may apply the tuition discount,extend the payment period,and improve the financial assistance system for the poor students,and establish the psychological intervention mechanisms for them.The government should apply some policies according to the situation,such as injecting funds to banks which managing student loans,and the funds should be used for the purpose;directly buy a certain proportion of student loans from the banks and other financial institutions;increase the upper limit of the risk compensation proportion of student loans;construct specific policy-oriented financial institutions,and be responsible for the payment,use and recycling of student loans.
