Posterior capsule opacification after implantation with different AcrySof foldable intraocular lenses

Abstract

Objective:To compare the differences of posterior capsule opacification (PCO) between one-piece and three-pieces AcrySof foldable intraocular lense (IOL) implantations after phacoemulsification. Methods:At the 6th month after phacoemulsification,the condition of PCO in 59 eyes with single-piece IOL implantation was compared with that in other 55 eyes with three-pieces IOL. Results:The incidence rate of PCO in single-piece IOL group (6 8%,4 eyes) was significantly different from three-pieces IOL group (20%,11 eyes) (P0 05). Conclusions:The single-piece foldable IOL seems able to decrease the incidence of PCO after phacoemulsification.
