Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of fascin of Reed-Sternberg cells(R-S cells) in classical Hodgkin lymphoma(CHL).Methods Twenty-seven cases of CHL were immunohistochemically stained for fascin with SP method. The expression of fascin of R-S cell was observed and compared with CD30 and CD15 staining in RS cells. Results In all cases of CHL,the observed fascin staining in the RS cells was much stronger than that for CD30 and CD15.All 27 cases(100%) of CHL showed an intensely diffuse cytoplasmic staining, while 26(96.3%) for CD30 and 20(74.1%) of 27 cases for CD15 showed weak-to-strong expression. Conclusion Fascin is a highly sensitive marker for Reed-Sternberg cells, which is helpful to diagnosis of classical Hodgkin lymphoma and has a high negative predictive value for diagnosis of classical Hodgkin lymphoma.
