On the Comparison of Landscape Poems by Wang Wei and Xie Lingyun

In the history of the landscape poetic development in China,both Wang Wei and Xie Lingyun were the famous poets in this field.Between them,Xie Lingyun was the great master in the respect of landscape poems in his period,and Wang Wei inherited predecessors’ achievements,such as Xie Lingyun’s,in Chinese landscape poems.He developed his poems by incorporating ancestors’ success and gained new theories by reviewing the old ones.Despite the similarities between Wang Wei and Xie Lingyun in their lives and fortunes,the aesthetic art,the introduction of Zen into Chinese poetry and so forth,there are differences from deep level in these aspects.This thesis makes an analysis from these points and explains the relative approaches further based on the theory,which identifies the two authors and their periods,in order to make the reader have deeper understanding about the landscape poems by the two poets.
