Classification study on the TCM syndrome of colorectal cancer

Objective To provide the clinical treatment direction of colorectal cancer for differentiating syndrome basing on understanding the structure of its TCM syndrome. Methods All of the papers were acquired by searching the network database about Chinese and western medical journals in recent 10 years. 4543 colorectal cancer cases derived from 383 papers were selected according to the diagnosis and treatment in traditional Chinese medicine. 32 syndrome types were concluded and classified from these papers,while the proportion and differences of these types were analyzed and compared. Results The common syndromes of colorectal cancer were as follows: deficiency of spleen-Qi syndrome,damp-heat syndrome,and deficiency of both Qi and blood syndrome,Yin deficient of liver and kidney syndrome,Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome,Yang asthenia of spleen and kidney syndrome. Conclusion The main pathological mechanism about the occurrence and development of colorectal cancer is related with deficiency of spleenQi syndrome,damp-heat syndrome,and deficiency of both Qi and blood syndrome,Yin deficient of liver and kidney syndrome,Qi stagnation and blood stasis syndrome,Yang asthenia of spleen and kidney syndrome. The structure of TCM syndrome will provide reference to make colorectal cancer treatment guidelines.
