An Interpretation of Gadamer's Hermeneutics as Practical Philosophy

Gadamer's hermeneutics,on the one hand inherited the tradition of practical philosophy of Aristotle,on the other hand restored the truth of practical reason when criticized modern scientific rationality.Therefore,his hermeneutics actually is a practical philosophy of hermeneutics,or the practice of philosophical hermeneutics.Gadamer's hermeneutics as practical philosophy,in Truth and Method,stressed the understanding of the application and tried to maintain or establish the legal status of humanities knowledge and truth in his later time,so Gadamer thought practical philosophy have a basic philosophical significance.Hermeneutics' understanding of ontology can not do without the language of dialogue,and dialogue is the basic condition of practical philosophy.Thus,spirit of dialogue was a powerful tool to achieve the ideal of hermeneutics' practical philosophy.Gadamer thought that the ultimate ideal of human society in the future is the community conversation.
