Pierre Bourdieu' Theory of Practice and its Revelation to Sociology

Abstract

Pierre Bourdieu tries to surmount binary conflicts such as structure-agency,system-actor,subjective-objective.In this article,the author argues that Pierre Bourdieu' the theory of practice emphasizes the process and the latent logic of practice,and reflection is one indispensable part of his theory of practice.Only by considering both points can Pierre Bourdieu' theory of practice be understood well.Pierre Bourdieu' theory of practice not only has very important academic value but also great revelation to sociology.First,Bourdieu's ideas and reflection on ontology,epistemology and methodology are helpful to increase the scientific property of sociology.Second,Bourdieu's argument that sociology is also political science is very valuable to understand the properties of sociology and will promote the development of sociology.Third,he provides the enlighten thoughts and concepts for the efforts of sociological indigenization.
