Abstract
The method to design 3D virtual helmet display optical system is presented based on the software of ZEMAX and the properties of eyepiece. A design example is given. The result shows that the total length of the optical system is less than 49 mm, the lateral aberration less than 60 μm, axial spherical aberration less than 0.1 mm, the lateral chromatic aberration less than 20 μm, field curvature less than 0.4 mm, distortion less than 5%. The MTF at 30 lp/mm is over 0.32 and the total mass satisfies the requirement of the 3D virtual helmet display.
