Abstract

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic and therapeutic value of serum CEA,CA125 and CA19-9 in colorectal carcinoma. Methods One hundred and two patients with colorectal carcinoma treated surgically in our hospital between January 2005 and May 2007 and 40 healthy adults as control were studied. The level of serum CEA,CA125 and CA19-9 were detected by microparticle enzyme immunoassay. Results The positive rates of serum CEA,CA125 and CA19-9 were not associated with location, gross morphology and histological type. The positive rates of three markers were higher in Dukes C+D than in Dukes A+B.The sensitivities of CEA,CA125 and CA19-9 were 34.3%,35.2% and 37.2% respectively. The specificities were 95.0%.The combination of CEA,CA125 and CA19-9 had a sensitivity of 58.9% and a specificity of 92.5%.In Dukes C+D the sensitivity was 89.1% and the specificity was 92.5%.Conclusion The combination of CA125,CA1929 and CEA is important in diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma in Dukes C+D,and may help to determine the stage and operation radius of colorectal cancer.
