Exploration of Total Extracapsular Thyroidectomy

Objective To introduce a new extracapsular approach for thyroidectomy in patient with surgical thyroid disease.Methods The study summarized 162 patients after extracapsular thyroidectomy to observe the postoperative complication. Results There were no operative death and hyperthyroidism crisis,postoperative complications included respiratary tract obstruction in 2 cases((1.23)%),temporary injury of recurrent laryngeal nerve in 5 cases (3.26%),temporary ingury of superior laryngeal nerve in 4 cases (2.46%),temporary injury of parathyroid in 8 cases (4.94%).The function of all tissue with complications returned to normal after 3 months.Conclusion Postoperative camplicaton can be controlled,total extacapsular thyroidectomy is safe and useful.
