An Empirical Analysis of China's Industrial Structure Change and Economic Growth

Abstract

This paper has done quantitative analysis on status and trend of China's industrial structure change during the period of 1978-2002, and has analysed the relative change of contribution and affect on economic growth of every industrial sector that caused by industrial structure change. The Empirical test has demonstrated that the industrial structure change is accord with the evolve rule of industrialization development, and total economic growth is the weighted sum up of the growth of every industrial sector. However, China's industrial structure change has lagged behind the demand of economic development, we must press ahead to optimize and upgrade the industrial structure so as to bring about an industrial pattern with high and new technology industries as the leader, basic and manufacturing industries as the kingpin and the service industry developing in all areas, at the same time, correctly handle the issues concerning of agriculture, countryside and farmers, continue to strengthen enterprise's international competitiveness.
