Expression and clinical significance of E-cadherin in hepatocellular carcinoma

Objective: To study the correlation between the expression of E-cadherin and the clinical pathological factors of hepatocellular carcinoma and explore its role during the carcinoma process.Methods: The quantitative-RT-PCR and immunohistochemical methods were employed to determine the transcription level and expression level of E-cadherin in 30 cases of hepatocellular carcinoma,including the tumor tissue and the surgical margin tissue.Results: Both the transcription level and expression level of E-cadherin in the tumor tissue were significantly lower than those in the surgical margin tissue.And the results were correlated with the differentiation degree.Conclusion: E-cadherin is related with the malignant degree and the invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma and is helpful for the judgment of prognosis.
