Abstract
Objective To evaluation result of the glucocorticosteriod to treat ocular capillary hemangioma in the infants.Design Retrospective case series.Participants 33 patients with ocular capillary hemangioma in Beijing Children Hospital.12 patients with superficial capillary hemangioma;16 cases with deep capillary hemangioma,5 cases with mixed capillary hemangioma.Methods The participants received oral prednisone,or betamethasone injection in the location of the tumor.The changes of the volumes of the tumors after treatment were evaluated by the handwork measurement using the rulers.The shape of the ocular capillary hemangioma were observed by color Doppler ultrosound,and follwed up for(7.42±3.22) months.Main Outcome Measures The volumes of the hemangioma,effective rate of the treatment.Results After the treatment using the glucocorticosteriod.The mean volumes of the hemangioma were decreased from(2.55±0.35) cm3 before treatment to(1.31±0.22) cm3(t=3.705,P=0.001).The effective rate of the glucocorticosteriod treatment for superficial,deep,and mixed capillary hemangioma was 83.4 %,87.5%,and 40%,respectively.Adverse effects of them were trivial.Conclusion Glucocorticosteriod treatment for the ocular capillary hemangioma can prevent the growth and minify the volumes of the tumors.
