Country Gentlemen, Class Standard, Confucian Culture──A Comparison Between Jiang Shang-Gong and Bai Jia-Xuan

Lord Jiang shang-gong and Bai Jia-xuan, the two different characters in texts are both typical Confucian country gentlemen. They vividly reflect two important transformations in Chinese literature of 20th century. One is from Literary Revolution to Revolutionary literature; the other is from Proletarian literature to the advocacy and restructuring of Han Culture. Ba Ren's piece of writing, which is stamped with strong brand of time, gives expression to two respects in the history of literature: the memory and mentality of Confucian personality, and the growing class analysis ideology. The texts and characters, as a result, achieve historical aesthetic effect for this dual meaning.
