Abstract

In the rural cooperation for providing public service, rational villagers cannot get rid of the free-rider behavior because they excessively calculate economic profit, which leads to the serious lack of supply of rural public goods.Whereas, rural social capital,a long-term interaction of relationship networks, and the positive relationships in trust, reciprocity, network, tolerance, compassion, and solidarity, can promote cooperation among farmers. Therefore, promoting rural social capital is the key to improve rural governance performance.
