Treatment on class II division 1 malocclusion cases with modified Twinblock and MEAW technology

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effects of modified Twinblock and multiloop edgewise arch wire(MEAW) technology on patients with skeletal class II division 1 malocclusion in permanent dentition. Methods Twenty-one patients aged 11~15 yeas old with skeletal class II division 1 malocclusion in permanent dentition were treated with modified Twinblock and MEAW technology. The cephalometric radiographs were taken before and after procedure,to compare the changes pre and post treatment.Results After two stages orthodontic treatment,Class II malocclusal relationship was corrected to Class I,ANB angle was significantly reduced.The overjet and overbite corrected significantly,and mandibularramas height (Ar-Go),mandibular body length(Go-Gn) increased respectively.In addition,the mandibular development was remarkable improved,the profile became balanced.Conclusion The modified Twinblock and MEAW technology were proved to helpful in treatment skeletal class II division 1 patients in permanent dentition.
