Abstract
The corn borer,Ostrinia furnacalis,was one of the most important corn pests in China. It had a great effect on yield and quality of maize. In order to explore harmless control methods of corn borer,pathogenicity and control efficiency of Bb06 on corn bore were studieded by the dipping methods. In laboratory,the death rates of O. furnacalis were 59.8,78.2 and 92.0%,median lethal concentrations(LT50) were 8.1,5.9 and 4.9 d respectively at concentraitons of 109,1010 and 1011 cfu/L. The median lethal concentration(LC50) was 8.1×108 cfu/L at the 10th day of infection. On field,control effects were 57.7 and 73.6% for 10 and 60 days after spraying at 1011 cfu/L. The borer holes were reduced by 77.7%. The results of laboratory and field trial show Beauveria bassiana Bb06 has stronger pathogenicity on O. furnacalis and can improve maize yield and quality.
