Abstract
The Han Dynasty was the important transitional stage of Chinese women's status.Women's status presented different characteristics in Western Han and Eastern Han.In Western Han,at the beginning of the unified dynasties,the social ethos changed a lot,and tolerated the life of women.Women had relatively the rights of liberty in marriage.But due to the perfection of feudal ceremonies in Eastern Han,the advocacy of Confucianism and the women's morality,and the height of men's status and the decline of women's status,women began to comply with abnormal ethics,and their status began to decline gradually.
