Abstract
Objective:To assess safety and efficacy of domestic risperidone for the treatment of schizophrenia. Methods:30 in-hospital patients with schizophrenia orally received risperidone 1~6 mg daily for 6 weeks in a conventional clinical practice setting. Efficacy was evaluated using the Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) and adverse reaction using the Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS). Results:At the end of the therapy, the risperidone-treated patients had cure rate 30% , marked improvement rate of 46. 7% and improvement rate of 86. 7% . The patient's onset of the therapeutic response on risperidone was in one week after the dosing. The optimal dose was in a range of 2~4 mg·d-1. The common side effects included akathisia, dystonia and constipation. Conclusion:Risperi done is effective and safe in the treatment of schizophrenia.
