Abstract

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of edaravone in treatment of acute cerebral infarction(ACI).Methods A randomized controlled study was carried out,56 patients with ACI enrolled within 48 hours of onset were randomly allocated into treatment group(n=28)and control group(n=28).Patients in both groups were given Yinxingdamo injection and aspirin 100 mg orally once per day.Patients in treatment group also received edaravone injection 30 mg twice per day for 14 days. The neurological deficits and activities of daily living(ADL)of patients in both groups were assessed by using national institute of health stroke scale(NIHSS)and Barthel Index respectively before and after the treatment.Clinical efficacy was evaluated according to changes of NIHSS and ADL scores on the 14 th day. Results There were significant differences in NIHSS scores and ADL scores between the 2 groups(P0.05).There was no distinct adverse reaction in the 2 groups. Conclusion Edaravone can improve impaired neurological function and activities of daily living in patients with acute cerebral infarction without obviously adverse reaction,it is effective and safe.
