Abstract
In Ming Dynasty,Li Meng-yang put forward the proposition of poetry among the peoplein the preface written by himself to his collection of poems A Volume of Enhancing Morals. The proposition was restated many times in his following poems and can be regarded as his mature theory of poetry. In early years,Meng-yang intended to compose a large number of Han-Wei Yuefu and folk songs which recorded his precious exploration on his way to his true poetry. He shifted and turned to seek for true poetry among the people because he was disappointed with the literary composition of men and letters in rhyme, which was an inevitable orientation of advocating true feelings in his poems.
