Abstract

The thesis introduces the network protocols in SAN(storage area network), including FC protocol, FCBP protocol, iFCP protocol and iSCSI protocol. Then it introduces the iSCSI protocol, which can be used to build a SAN on the basis of IP network, analyzes its communication mechanism and three methods to implement network communication using iSCSI protocol. Finally it presents an algorithm and its hardware design , which has been successfully validated at a behavioral level using VHDL and can be used for the interface of iSCSI PDU and TCP frame.
