Impact of High-quality Nursing on Clinical Nursing Staff's Satisfaction

Abstract

Objective To explore the impact of high-quality nursing on clinical nurses' satisfaction in hospital setting.Methods From March 2010 to June 2011,173 nurses in a class Ⅲ level A hospital were selected and divided into high-quality nursing group and non-high-quality nursing group.All the nurses were investigated with registered nurse job satisfaction questionnaire from national database of nursing quality indicators(NDNQI).The difference in the survey indicators were compared accordingly.Results The overall satisfaction was favorable in the nurses.The 3 leading items of satisfaction were relationship between nurses and physicians,supportive nursing management and nurses' interrelationship.The last 3 items of satisfaction were professional development,professional status and job enjoyment.After the implementation of high-quality nursing project,the nursing staff's satisfaction showed a significant rising trend,especially within nurses' interrelationship,decision-making,autonomy,administrative nursing management and income domains(P0.05 or P0.01).Conclusion Nurses' satisfaction is a very important indicator for high-quality nursing results.The effective implementation of various reform measures will help to improve nurses satisfaction and promote ongoing high-quality nursing. 【
