Analysis on slope seepage under extreme ice snow weather in southern China

Abstract

Using saturated-unsaturated seepage analytic method,we studied the influence of melted water produced by extreme ices now weather in southern China on slope seepage in the assumed boundary condition of extreme ice snow weather and slope permeability features.The results show that the infiltration of melting water can raise the water level in the surface and shallow part of the slope obviously,and especially,a large scale of temporary saturated areas may be found in slow slope and slope toe.With continuing infiltration of melting water,the water level of the lower part rises gradually,and so does the free surface.However,after the infiltration is finished,the water level of local slope body does not decrease.And by the infiltration of upper part,the water level shows a trend of rising continuingly.The seepage field in deeper part of the slope is rarely influenced by infiltration of the melting water.
