Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of MRI in diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm.Methods The compartion of MRI findings and operation was made in details in 51 cases with trigeminal neuralgia and 23 cases with hemifacial spasm.Results ① On MRI,there were 8 cases of cholesteatom,7 cases of acoustic neuroma,4 cases of trigeminal neuromata,3 cases of meningeoma,49 cases of blood vessel compression(66.21%) and 3 cases without abnomality(4.05%) in cerebellopontine angle;② On operation and pathology,there were 8 cases of cholesteatoma,7 cases of acoustic neuroma,4 cases of trigeminal neuromata,3 cases of meningeoma,46 cases with abnormality vessel oppressing trigeminal and facial nerve root(62.16%),and 6 cases without abnomality(8.11%) seen in cerebellopontine angle.Conclusion MRI is the effective examination in etiological diagnosis of trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm.
