Abstract

Monodispersed polystyrene microspheres in an average diameter range of 3.28-9.04 μm and monodispersed crosslinked polystyrene microspheres in an average diameter of 6.60 μm were prepared. The effects of the concentration of monomer styrene, initiator 2,2′-Azobis(2-methylpropionitrile) AIBN,and stablizer polyvinyllpyrrolidone(PVP) on the average size and size distribution of microspheres were studied.Thermal analysis shows that crosslinked polystyrene microspheres have a higher heat-resistance than linear polystyrene.
