Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical effect of Metformin combined with acupuncture therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The clinical date of 60 cases with type 2 diabetes mellitus treated in out-patient department,Jilin Province Education Authorities were analyzed retrospectively. All patients were divided into the treatment group and the control group, each group had 30 cases.According to the principle of TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation, patients in the control group were given traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture treatment,1 times a day in the first week, then after 1 week treatment changing for 3 times a week,4 weeks for a course, and given 3 period of treatment.Patients in the treatment group were given metformin(0.5 g each time,2 times/d) combined with acupuncture therapy,4 weeks for a course, and given 3 period of treatment. The therapeutic effect of the two groups were compared. Results In the treatment group, the therapeutic effects of 24 cases were excellent,5 cases were valid,1 case was invalid, the total effective rate was 96.7%.In the control group, the therapeutic effects of 19 cases were excellent,6 cases were valid,5 case was invalid, the total effective rate was 83.3%.The total effective rate in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, with statistically significant difference(P0.05). Conclusion Compared with traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture treatment, the clinical effect of Metformin combined with acupuncture therapy for patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It is worthy of clinical application.
