Abstract
A new reagent 1-(8′-(5′-sulfoquinoline))-3-(p-nitrophenyl)triazene(SQNPT) was synthesized and characterized. The possibility of this reagent for the application as a chromogenic reagent for determination of Cu2+ was studied. It was found that an amaranth complex with a maximum absorption wavelength at 596 nm and a molar absorptivity of 5.75×104 L·mol-1·cm-1 was formed between SQNPT and Cu2+ in Na2B4O7 buffer solution(pH 9.0) in the presence of the emulsifier OP.The Beer′s law was obeyed at a Cu2+ concentration range of 0.05~0.48 μg/mL.The method has been satisfactorily used for the determination of copper in food samples.
