Analysis on differences in urban competitiveness and the influential factors——A Case of Gansu Province

The study of urban competitiveness is a focus field in our country at present.It mainly refers to the abilities gathering the production factors and creating the wealth.In addition,it also refers to the development abilities of the city and region.The author took 14 cities in Gansu Province for samples and selected 52 indexes to build up the index system of the urban comprehensive competitiveness,which included the basis competitiveness,the core competitiveness and environmental competitiveness.Then the models of evaluating the urban comprehensive competitiveness in Gansu Province were developed using Principal Component Analysis.Then the urban competitiveness was calculated and classified into 4 types.At last the superiority and the inferiority were analyzed and the main direction of each city was designated according to its urban competitiveness.
