Abstract

Objective: To investigate the significance of TSGF in differentiating benign and malignant pleural effusion.Methods: TSGF were detected using biochemical method in the serum and pleural effusion of 26 cases of tuberculosis pleural effusion and 20 cases of malignant pleural effusion,and in the serum of 25 cases of normal contral. Results: TSGF level in the serum of tuberculosis patients with pleural effusion is (62.6±8.3)u/ml,significantly lower than that in the serum of malignant pleural effusion patients (80.3±10.2)u/ml(P0.01),but a little higher than that in the serum of normal contral(60.0±7.1)u/ml(P0.05). TSGF level in the pleural effusion of tuberculosis patients is (66.7±11.4)u/ml,higher than that of malignant pleural effusion(57.8±12.1)u/ml,(P0.05). Conclusion: Testing the level of TSGF in serum and pleural effusion plays an important role in differenting benign and malignant pleural effusion.
