Abstract
Objective To discuss the applied value of tumor specific growth factor( TSGF),carcinoembryonic antigen( CEA) and lactate dehydrogenase( LDH) in the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant pleural effusion. Methods A total of 108 patients with pleural effusion( including 63 cases of malignant pleural effusion and 45 cases of benign pleural effusion) admitted between January 2012 and September 2013 were enrolled in this study. The TSGF,CEA and LDH levels in pleural effusion and corresponding serum were synchronously detected using automatic biochemical analyzer and autoimmune electrochemical luminescence analyzer. Results The TSGF, CEA and LDH levels of serum and pleural effusion in malignant pleural effusion patients were all higher than those in benign pleural effusion patients( all P 0. 05). The levels of TSGF,CEA and LDH of pleural effusion in patients with malignant pleural were all higher than those in serum( all P 0. 05). For the diagnosis of malignant pleural effusion,the sensitivity and specificity of pleural effusion or serum single testing were all TSGF,CEA and LDH from high to low in turn. Conclusions Detecting TSGF,CEA,LDH in serum and pleural effusion has important clinical value in distinguishing benign and malignant pleural effusion. The specificity and sensitivity of TSGF are all superior to CEA and LDH.
